Kuma was founded in 2016 by husband and wife team Rom Fabreo and Allyson Samfilippo. Having met in Japan in 2012, the pair was inspired by the Japanese aesthetic and sometime thereafter fell in love, moved to San Diego, and came across the opportunity to open Kuma Café in the Downtown Columbia district. We serve craft coffee and our take on the workingman classics, breakfast specials, and avocado toast with great attention to detail. Thank you to our neighborhood for seven years in business.

The Shop

We encourage you to take your lunch away from your desk. For the sake of spontaneity, we offer rotating weekly specials and a variety of avocado toast. We have patio seating with plenty of fresh air and have been known to host the occasional Saturday morning kickback.
